Bicker

Verb
1)to engage in petulant or peevish argument
Noun
2)an angry, petty dispute or quarrel; contention.

He was the only person in the world that got to her the way he did. It began with a quibble over a dirty bowl, which turned into an argument and then an explosive row. She could feel her blood begin to boil, as his auspicious attempts at goading her gradually eroded her sanity. She slammed the door and stormed up stairs. Perhaps, she thought, this was it. She could feel everything they had strived to build over the last 5 years, slowly dissolving at her finger tips. With things spiraling out of hand, she struggled to grasp control of the situation and soon found herself shouting, thoughtless, spiteful abuse at him. In a desperate attempt to retaliate, he began to mimic her ill behaviour, repeating her slander in a mock overly high pitched tone. To his surprise this made her laugh. Struggling to remember the core reason for this now very immature and petty argument, suddenly the situation became comical. They knew each other like they knew themselves, time had given their relationship the chance to grow and it was occasions such as these which helped build this bond rather than brake it... With teeth and fists no longer clenched, the hostile air had evaporated between them. Just like that, they resumed their usual position snuggled in front of the television.

  1. Man alive can I relate to this! The smallest thing can feel so incredibly monumental when so much is at stake though. But I love it when life has the good fortune of letting us find that humour in our crapness and let the anger melt away. Good times!! So well described my lovely, to a T xx
