This time was different. When she sat behind the steering wheel of her dependable, rusty Micra, her stomach churned. This was a feeling that didn't often occur, but when it did she knew exactly what it was. A combination of nerves and nausea flushed over her body. The thought of driving somewhere alone, far away and with out the help of a trusty map panicked her and the destination at hand provided little comfort. Turning the key in the ignition, the engine roared, sending the maggots inside her gut violently squirming. Just ride it out, she thought to herself, as she surrendered her body to the fear. Much to her alleviation, as she lead her car down the narrow road towards the busy motorway, the drive gradually became manageable. Just as she knew it would.
It was hard to tell how well the interview had gone and since she wasn't going to hear back from them until Friday, she thought it best not to think about it. When she finally arrived home, all reasons for this unexplainable, irrational fear, seemed meager and feeble. What was once a feeling of blind anxiety had now metamorphosed into a humble sense of achievement. Satisfied, she smiled.
