The End of The Beginning

The essence had gone. The embers were no longer alight but simply smoking now in the dreary aftermath of what was once a wild fire. They we're comfortable, they still enjoyed kisses and cuddles but that was about as far as the affection went. She bored him. He bored her. Their relationship had somehow managed to digress back to friendship with out either party willingly taking part. Now they went about their every day knowing that this was in fact the beginning of the end...
It loomed over them consuming their every thought and action. The unspoken truth circled the air around them like the cold air of a bitter winter morning. Neither could speak of it for fear of what uncertainties it might bring. Whilst she knew she still loved him, she wasn't sure he felt anything anymore. Both would agree that although they cared for one another neither could relate to that once familiar phrase of being "In love". It wasn't a case of giving up or not fighting for it anymore... It was a case of having nothing to fight for. Both we're very different and although this once bought them together now it had began to rip them apart. Piece by piece. They needed to find a way to communicate again. Even if just as friends.
